Partial front, full front, track package or full vehicle? Here's what each PPF coverage protects, and who it's best for, from Pristine Detail in Edina.
Updated October 2026.
Once you decide to protect your car with paint protection film (PPF), the next question is how much of the car to cover. More coverage means more protection and a higher price. Here's what each Pristine Detail package covers, and who it's best for.
Best for: drivers who want to protect the areas that take the most rock chips at the lowest cost. One trade-off: there's a film edge across the hood and fenders. It's hard to see on most colors, but some owners notice it on darker paint.
Best for: most customers. It protects the entire front of the car with no visible line across the hood. It's our most popular PPF package, and a common choice for highway commuters and new cars.
Best for: performance cars and anyone who drives hard or on the track. Rocker panels take a beating from debris thrown up by the front tires, and in Minnesota, from sand and salt.
Best for: exotic, luxury and collector cars, and owners who want every painted panel protected from rock chips, scratches, door dings from shopping carts and swirls from washing.
PPF isn't just clear and glossy:

Sanded and salted roads mean more rock chips than in warmer states, and every chip is a place for rust to start. PPF takes the hit instead of your paint, and minor scratches in the film heal with heat. Add a ceramic coating on top, and salt and grime wash off more easily all winter.
If you're unsure, start with a Full Front End. It covers the areas that get damaged most, with no visible line on the hood. You can always add rocker panels or more panels later.
