When they arrived at the scene, vinyl wraps had revolutionized the custom car world. All of a sudden, you could change your car's appearance very quickly, apply custom graphics, racing livery, or just change the color. It was fast and convenient compared to complicated and expensive paint jobs. Better yet, the durable vinyl wrap protected the paint job and kept it away from scratches, rock chips, or road debris. However, at Pristine Detail, we had a chance to perform a full vinyl wrap on one vehicle with a unique appearance, special body material, and recognizable look. Some might say that it is the last vehicle that needs a vinyl wrap, but the owner wanted to do it just because. You have probably guessed it: it is a brand new Tesla Cybertruck.
The Tesla Cybertruck is one of these automobiles that have been hyped for years, and after they sooner or later arrived at the scene, shoppers have been polarized. We are not going to enter detail about why this is the case, however we're going to applaud Tesla for preserving its promise and bringing us the astounding electric truck with a few unbelievable functions. One of those advanced features is the bodywork. Or better yet, the whole body structure, aka exoskeleton. The Cybertruck's body construction consists of a stainless-steel skeleton, which includes a cab, floor, front, and rear sections. The body panels are mounted on that frame, forming a complete body. Tesla's engineers engineered this construction with rigidity and durability in mind, so the cold-rolled, 300-series stainless steel was used. It is not just exceptionally strong material but also affordable. Tesla used a mix of steel and aluminum for body panels to reduce the overall weight (which is always a problem with big EVs) while maintaining durability. The result is impressive construction that can endure most dents, scratches, and corrosion. Elon Musk promised that Cybertruck's body would be bulletproof, and he delivered since this Tesla can withstand shots from a 9 mm gun and even a .22 mm rifle. After the tests, it was shown that both weapons would leave marks on the body, but they would not penetrate the metal. Amazing!
However, there is a downside to this incredible technology, and it has to do something with aesthetics. We are not talking about sharp lines and angular design. We are talking about the color. Tesla Cybertruck is available in only one color, a stainless-steel mate gray, which looks fantastic and emphasizes the use of the specific material. However, the downside is that every cybertruck out there looks exactly the same. Thankfully, we have a solution for that.
This was one of the most fun projects here at Pristine Detail, not just because we performed work on the very sought-after vehicles but because we completely changed the appearance and applied premium products from XPEL. This Cybertruck received a complete window tint as well as a vinyl wrap. Interestingly, the owner chose to tint the windows entirely and wrap the truck in matte black. This way, the matte finish of the stock vehicle was preserved, but the color was changed. It was a very tasteful mod that enhanced the look, further preserved the original surface, and improved the comfort.
For the windows, we used the Prime Black CS dyed window tint by XPEL, one of the best products on the market. Not only did it fit the Cybertruck odd-shaped side glass, but it also matched the details, wrap color, and other components of the exterior. This window tint gives the occupants almost the same visibility while reducing the sunlight and UV rays, making the vehicle cooler and more comfortable in summer. Also, the quality of the window tint can affect the electric vehicle's range. Since the EVs (like the Cybertruck) use the battery to power the climate control, it will drain faster if the A/C needs to work hard to cool down the cabin. With XPEL window tint, the temperature inside the vehicle is lower, and A/C doesn't need to work as hard, providing the driver with a few miles of extra range.
Although the Cybertruck's surfaces are primarily flat, the wrapping job was particularly meticulous since the matte finish and big, flat panels can expose any irregularities in the wrapping material or the wrapping process. Fortunately, our skilled experts and quality vinyl wrap guarantee that the job will be done perfectly. As expected, the matte black Cybertruck looks fantastic, and the wrap complements the lines of this unusual truck. We especially paid attention to the edges of the body panels to avoid any peeling or delamination down the road.
Even though the Cybertruck is already scratch—and dent-resistant, the new wrap will enhance its protection even further. But the main thing is that it will set it apart, provide fresh looks, and add more elegance and distinction to this controversial yet amazing machine.
